My friend & masculine alien VTuber, LUK4, gave me an invitation code for Bluesky back in September 2023. I felt both nervous and excited about trying out the platform for the 1st time ever. I was also more active on Mastodon and the rest of the Fediverse around that point. If you’re like me, then you probably heard all the negative press because of Jack Dorsey’s influence at the time.
Thankfully, there were familiar faces I vaguely knew, such as Bonnicula, Girl_DM_, and many others. Bonnicula and I quickly became partners in crime early on because of the OG waves of GFX scammers that joined because of other folks dumping or selling their invite codes elsewhere without a single care about the actual consequences of doing so in the 1st place. The ongoing exodus from X/Twitter was obviously still occurring because of Muskrat’s poor executive decisions. Meanwhile, I saw a chance to make a difference for present & future users by creating the VSky Custom Feeds Directory on a complete whim around December 2023.

All my experimentation with SkyFeed’s built-in Feed Creator tool also led to the birth of my Black VTubers feed. That previously had one job, which was pulling any posts using the #BlackVTuber hashtag into a single feed. I did that in order to boost the visibility of peers who were from that specific demographic in the indie VTuber sphere. Unfortunately, I had to change it up after at least two different GFX scammers took advantage of the feed for their own sake.
📢 PSA: The Black VTubers feed has its own whitelist now. Because of that sudden change, I'll no longer be enforcing usage of the #BlackVTuber tag just for visibility.Feel free to reply to this skeet if you'd like to join the list!

Fast forward to today, I’ve expanded my efforts as a regular user to develop many other useful resources. The VTubers Guide To Bluesky felt like the next logical step after I previously made a regular habit of sharing a different guide written by a transgender woman named Kairi. Most recently, I announced that my pal Evan from HIMediaTV started working with me to help add any potential resources that we can include in the growing archives of the beloved directory.
